The modified middle school schedule has longer class periods, which enables teachers enough time for extended lessons such as Science Labs and Literature assignments. Each student is assigned their own locker, which allows them to take responsibility for their own books and supplies. The classes include Religion, Language Arts, Literature, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Latin, Music, Gym and Art.
The focus for Latin is threefold: to provide the classical language framework to prepare for high school World Language curriculum; to improve vocabulary and English grammar; to examine and reflect on Roman life and art.
The Advanced Math curriculum teaches the Common Core standards for 7th and 8th grade, and high school standards when necessary. The courses provide a foundation for learning the pace, depth, and high level thinking necessary for success in honors and advanced mathematics and sciences in high school.
The Literature books the students are assigned throughout the year are chosen based precisely on our criteria. They are all well written, age appropriate and engaging. The subject areas encompass a wide range educationally as well as socially and the students are asked to submit a fact-based, well thought out and organized report on each book that is assigned.
Our new Science Lab has all the latest technology as well as traditional equipment to enable the most intricate of experiments.

As a teacher, I am grateful each day that Saint Pius X School considers not only the minds of our students but also the hearts of our students. This true education gives every student an opportunity to find success and happiness.– Denise DiFilippo, 1st Grade Teacher
